Wonderful
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home. The furnishings were exquisite and comfortable with a beautiful ocean breeze to keep you cool. The location provides the most amazing sunsets and privacy with your own pool. It is steps away from shipwreck beach and walkable to Poipu beach. All this being said I was a bit taken aback when we pulled up and have to walk through a medium level condo type area to get to it. The listing made it seem like it was in a neighborhood. Once we got to the home that worry is taken away. Hope to be back soon!!away

Location and square footage is fantastic!
We stayed at Makahuena 1106 the last half of February with 2 other couples and loved it for it’s roominess and incredible ocean views! The photos are spot-on. It’s a beautiful place inside and out. Lack of a/c was no problem for us but it could get warm if the trade winds stop. There are multiple fans in each bedroom and both living rooms. Lowering the south-facing shades in the afternoon sun helps keep it cool throughout. A few minor problems were taken care of the same day by the attentive Parrish staff! We used the grocery concierge service and had everything we needed for evening cocktails and dinner after our 12 hour flight. No stopping for supplies on the drive to Poipu. Ahhh. Thanks Parrish! We also saved money by booking directly through Parrish as opposed to the same property on VRBO because of lower fees and the returning guest discount. This is starting to sound like a Parrish commercial, but the praise is genuine. Their attention to detail and quality is why we use them whenever we come to Kauai! -Tom N. from Nebraska

Dining on the deck while watching the sun set on the horizon was incredible. I had absolutely no problems. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and helpful. I appreciate all the people I worked with from the beginning.

This is the first time we have stayed at Makahuena with Parrish. The fact that we have rented this 4 times and stayed on a condo once many years means we love the location and the house.
Excellent in all ways! Many memories will be cherished forever.
Parrish is wonderful, glad to be back after a nine year break, now we come with kids!
Epic, Amazing, Beautiful, Surreal
Traveled the world and have been blessed to enjoy some beautiful accomodations in the past. This place is magical, location, view, overall comfort, convenience and beauty unmatched. Can't wait to return

Amazing views! Can’t get any closer to the ocean. Great space. Only down side is no a/c in bedrooms.
NO Air Conditioning. House was 90+ degrees 24/7 Provided portable fans did nothing to cool down
Unit was advertised as having resort amenities. There should have been notice of no AC. We would not stay there again if given a free stay because you get no rest from the heat. In the evening it was hotter inside than outside. The only reason it gets 2 stars is for the view.
Aloha Chad. The home comes with the amenities of the Makahuena Resort, which includes the use of the Makahuena pool, spa and tennis courts. Each unit is individually owned and appointed and all the unit's features are shown in the listing. We do not advertise it as having AC and you even signed the rental agreement and initialed the specific part that states “Not all accommodations have central air conditioning – please check the property description for specific details.” The owners may consider adding AC in the future and we will be sure to update the listing when they do.

The fantastic view.
It was spacious, nicely decorated and enjoyable. A motorized cart was advertised to be available for luggage from the parking lot to the unit. There was none and the representative said she never heard of it. Later we got a call back that one was on order. It was placed in our rental the day before we left which was very handy. We were glad to have it. The pool was great and too bad the fence needs to be around it, but that is understandable.
I'm a frequent visitor to the island and have stayed at Parrish properties in the past. There were a few issues with our stay that I have already communicated with the team about. A few things worth noting about the property overall for future bookers:
1. The property does NOT have AC. It is somewhat buried in the description. Yes, you are on the water and there is a breeze, but it is quite warm. I messaged ahead to make sure there were ceiling fans in each room, but there was not one in the basement bedroom and it was very warm.
2. The listening doesn't show all bedrooms. The third basement bedroom is no where near comparable to the other two. We were super disappointed as we were a group of 3 couples, and we didn't all get to have the same experience. The basement bedroom is suitable for children, but if you're a group looking for parity across accommodations, be aware.
3. The home is in a private community, but the house is not terribly private. It is right next to a rock access point, so you will see fishermen arrive with flashlights in your windows at 4am and people trying to enter the home/look into the windows. We had several other resort guests try to enter our home thinking it was a communal space or walking around the private pool area. When there is no AC and the windows must be open to feel any breeze, this can be a little unsettling!
4. After traveling for 20 hours, we received late check in information which was frustrating as our group was exhausted and had previously communicated all of our arrivals as requested. Worth being proactive with the team as they are quite busy with an influx of visitors.
