This is a very nice condo right on the water with beautiful views and sunsets. We especially enjoyed the patio and how it was somewhat enclosed - we were able to sit out there even when it rained. It was by far our favorite part of the condo. The complex is very quiet. The kitchen was well stocked, the AC was excellent and very quiet, beds were comfortable, extra linens were provided and the washer dryer was a plus. The unit is walkable to beaches but it’s a bit of a walk and the only drawback is if you want the pool experience you won’t get it here. The pool is tiny and not worth your time. We did download resort pass app and booked a pool day at the Hyatt. Overall I do highly recommend this condo and promise you won’t be disappointed. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is there were some minor issues (broken patio chair - reported by another guest in February but still broken when we got there). The property manager was responsive to other minor issues which was appreciated.

Lovely ocean view property

We loved staying at the condo! We could see daily sunsets and enjoy the breezy island trade winds. Nice kitchen set up to cook if you wanted to. We dined every night on the outdoor patio. The place is nicely decorated and they recently put in air conditioners to use as needed. I would come back again!

airbnb 6/16 What you see is what you get plus more! The photos of the ocean view with the turquoise water don’t really do the property justice as you are in walking distance of amazing coves and beaches. The lanai is the selling point of this property. We spent the majority of our time relaxing on the lounge chairs and just listening to the ocean. The covered eating area was our haven and comfortable for our party of 4. Even when a short rain storm came through we didn’t know it since we were tucked away. The amenities of the property were everything you need in a vacation home. Kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, pans,etc. The water dispenser in the fridge and toaster were very helpful. Coffee maker and dishwasher easy to use. Anything you need for the beach was provided. Beach chairs, towels and coolers were there at the ready. The property was clean and easy to find other amenities such as paper towels, tissue, towels, etc. Nice soap products as well. Plenty of room for our party of 4 although the kitchen got tight at times. Washer and dryer were also an added bonus.There are a few stairs leading down to the property and the parking lot is not right next to the entrance so you do have to carry luggage and supplies a ways. A/C units in the bedrooms were a nice bonus. The complex is within walking distance to the Grand Hyatt and the beach. Although there are not sidewalks the entire way to the beach. A very doable walk even for my parents in their 70’s. The sunsets were spectacular every evening. 20-30 minute drive from the airport and major grocery chains, about an hour drive to the North side of the Island and the canyon. Perfect location in our eyes. It was our little slice of paradise and can’t wait to come back! ,

Excellent location near Poipu Beach and many restaurants. We saw many whales by just eating dinner on the back porch. The extra towels and beach chairs/umbrella were so appreciated. This place was perfect for our stay.

We had a great experience at Parrish - the unit was beautiful and the proximity to the sights and sounds of the ocean was fabulous. We had some challenges getting into the unit when we arrived, but the crew was responsive and able to get us in the property 60-90 minutes later. The only thing we struggled with was the temperature in the unit at night. There was no air conditioning which was a shock to us, but we adjusted over the course of the week. A great experience we would recommend to others.

This listing lived up to all expectations. The location cannot be beat. We literally were able to walk off the lanai and see dolphins, sea turtles, and crashing waves. Watched sunsets and the sounds of waves. Although the unit does not have AC, it was not uncomfortable...and this is from a family from South Florida and who is used to the AC. I bought two fans just in case, but returned them unused as they have ceiling fans, as well as a floor fans in the bedrooms. What they say about the Tradewinds is true! The Host responded quickly to any of our request and was very communicative. The unit had other nice touches, like small/big cooler to borrow (we didn't use but was there for us if we needed it ), beach chairs and umbrella, beach towels and even two beach bags to use to tote your stuff around. Another nice touch my daughter loved was a yoga mat she used for a sunrise stretch. All around a WONDERFUL experience for our family. I only wish we could have stayed longer as there was so much in Kauai we were not able to get to. Aloha!!

Excellent as always.

Location was central. Views were awesome. Very easy process. I have used it multiple times. Process was very easy and the agent I spoke on the phone with was knowledgeable and pleasant. Properties have always been excellent and as pictured. We have stayed at 4 different Parrish properties on the south shore and never been disappointed.

Great location

The condo was in a great location. We walked every morning and enjoyed the sunrises. The only thing that was disappointing was that the complex had decided that the portable air conditioning systems had to be removed before we arrived. They had offered to find us a different location due to this fact. We decided to roll with it. Being on the bottom floor, didn’t allow for enough air flow even with fans in the evenings. We had to close up all the windows and doors when going to sleep for safety reasons so it was very warm. We had an issue with the freezer and the Parrish was awesome in dealing with the problem. Overall, we had a great experience! Everyone was super nice and response time were super fast and efficient.

Beautiful location

Small unit but spectacular views!

Location location location. This property has all 3. The setting on the water is spectacular with amazing sunsets. Bedrooms are small and the sink in the master bath is in the bedroom which can prove an issue with waking your other half up in the morning or evening. Nicest patio in the complex with a lounging section as well as dining. Kitchen could have been better appointed with cook ware but plenty of plates and glass ware. The location is perfect for all the activities in the area. It’s about 1.25 hours to Waimea and 1.5 to priceville. Check in and out was a breeze. They do not however answer their text messages. Would stay again.

RIght on the water

This townhome has an incredible location and was a great price. We stayed for a long weekend in January with another couple and enjoyed our time in Kauai. We were able to see whales right from the lanai and it was within walking distances of several beaches. The décor had a definite beach feel.

We booked through VRBO.

A better description of unit location within condo complex would be helpful. We had requested the 2 twins to be a king and it wasn’t. one of the hair dryers wasn’t working.

Poipu Makai #C1 If I seen an honest review on VBRO I would not have rented

Worst condo I have ever stayed in. Outdoor maintenance was poor. Windows and doors would not open to circulate air. Rusted, wooden louvers laying on exterior ground. Very humid conditions made it hard to tolerate. Had to ask for fans, could not sleep. Floating floor was poorly installed and buckling. Fridge, sinks, glass and mirrors needed cleaning. Had to wash the dishes when I tried to use because of food on dishes. dishwasher worked but door spring broke and fell on my leg, in addition no drying agent. Coffee pot was just as bad. Never once cooked in the unit because it grossed me out. One of the hair dryers threw only cold air ,the other would not shut off. Must I continue? If I could have left, I would have. I rent 2 condos each year in the HI island since 1999 and have never been sorry until now. Way over decorated! Too crowded with expensive junk. Oh! Let’s not forget the description said it had a sofa sleeper. Not true. Only an obvious replacement couch probably from a rummage sale and sitting on it made your bottom wet!!! Could not use lanai. Owner decorated with rugs and cushions. Rained..everything wet for days. Not the patio furniture portrayed either. Miserable stay. Never again! Only kind of looked like the pictures in your advertisement. Management company tried and gave us 3 fans to use beside the fan already in the unit and ceiling fans. Still HOT! Management company sent back the cleaning company. Only took the edge off. Already paid for…felt stuck. Shame last week of 3 weeks on the islands was ruined by this unit.

Poipu Makai is an older oceanfront property, thus the windows and sliders are not always easy to open, especially when it is humid as the wood swells. However frustrating, I ensure you that they all open. It may have been more that there was not enough trades blowing to move the air. We had hoped the extra fans helped. We apologize on the lanai furniture being wet, we did have heavy, heavy rains prior to your arrival. Other than the top of the frig being dusty, I do not see that you mentioned any else about the kitchen. I know we sent cleaning back and we did all that you asked elsewhere. We are sorry that it was not enough. Had there been anything else, we would have addressed it while we were there. I believe a lot of what you experienced was the oceanfront salt air mist that quickly covers everything when windows and doors are open. We did check the dishwasher and found there was no issue with the door. We are sorry you did not like the décor, we believe the photos show the unit as it is. Please note, we do not advertise a sleeper sofa for this unit. Maybe you are confusing it with the other unit you rented? We are not sure what else we could have done to make your stay better and for that we are truly sorry. Mahalo.

PERFECT!

Beautiful location! We loved walking on the ocean side trail to the Hyatt and then down to Brenneke’s Beach to watch the sea turtles. We especially loved early mornings on the lanai and evening sunsets. The condo was very comfortable and well appointed. Having access to beach chairs and ice chest was a bonus! We would definitely book again! Thanks for the perfect place to getaway!

Great location

Everything was great however not having AC was tough in July. Also the unit was decorated really nice but there was just too much of it. Furniture was too big for the size of the unit and it is very cluttered. Cool but Cluttered. Awesome views, great unit for 2 but for 4 with 2 of them being boys was tight. Kitchen was appointed really well. Service from Parrish was first rate.

Sophisticated and convenient oceanfront condo

Our family of four truly enjoyed this perfectly decorated two-bedroom ground floor home. Although there is no air conditioning, all of the rooms have ceiling fans and the trade winds made it very comfortable. The kitchen is gorgeous and is fully equipped although the knives were not up to serious use. The beaches are about 1/2 mile away but the condo itself overlooks a lava rock beach which is stunning. We saw sea turtles everyday and enjoyed the sound of the surf. The bedrooms face a rock garden with many palm trees. We enjoyed falling asleep each night to the sound of the wind in the palms. My one complaint is that the housekeeping staff did not address a minor request despite email and phone contact with the very pleasant Parrish staff

Amazing oceanfront stay! Close to everything!

My husband and 2 daughters recently stayed at Poipu Makai C1. We could not have loved it more and have experienced a lot of VRBO properties. It was charming and comfortable insode, a real home feel to it. You could hear the ocean and had 180 degree views. Sunsets were amazing. We saw humpback whales, dolphins, and turtles out our front porch. We loved being on the ground floor because the kids could run in the grass and it still managed to feel private because of the property location. We walked from the condo to Poipu Beach and the various beaches in front of resorts daily. We walked to Baby Beach a couple days even (about 2.5 miles one way but worth it!) and Shipwreck beach was only 1 mile the other direction. We used the amazing running path daily…I cant say enough good things about our stay in Kauai. We will be back!!!

The condo

Interior furnishings (gorgeous!), 2 patios and small yard, which allowed us to entertain family and friends. And, good location. After a 13-hour flight, we arrived after dark. We had great difficulty locating the office on a street with poor lighting and an unlit sign. You REALLY need to illuminate your sign. Then, when locating the key box, it, too, was hard to find in pitch darkness. There was a flashily, but was difficult to find in the dark.

All the beautiful koa wood, decorations, location and the fact that we did not see any ants in this unit! Pat and Kim were both very helpful after we arrived. Also, while making the reservations,the representatives on the phones were very helpful with any questions or requests that I had. The safe needed Maintenance…and Kim was very helpful and solved the problem. It would be nice if all the screen doors had locks on them, so you could lock them and keep them open at night in the bedroom, for more air flow. Some of the screen doors were hard to slide open.

The condo and location were both great. The Parrish Collection support was excellent.

The two items that were a bit of a problem, or might be for other visitors, were: The swimming pool at Poipu Makai is a joke. I’ve seen larger spas. There was only one gas barbecue for the whole complex and it only worked once out of three tries.

Confusing since I started with the VRBO website and then forwarded to Parrish and then had to pay an extra fee just for using the VRBO website. I had looked at the Parrish collection directly but didn’t see the unit we rented as available. I think the process is rather misleading and could be made easier. Don’t charge extra fee for just entering the VRBO website and make it clear from the beginning that the unit is being rented through a 3rd party i.e. Parrish. The unit did not have air conditioning and was very warm in the late afternoon and evenings even with the fans on and drapes closed which we hated to do with such a great view. The afternoon sun is very strong on the windows. Air conditioning would be nice as would an outdoor fan over the table. Extra fans in the bedrooms really helped. Since we are older this may have been a bigger problem for us than some people.

Location, great amenities such as beach chairs, towels, etc., and a nice kitchen with everything we needed. The condo felt like home. Just needed the bedding in the second bedroom covered from two twins to a king. It was done quickly and efficiently. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Very accommodating staff

I would give you guys a perfect 10 if there was AC. It was honestly way too hot. We had all the fans on and windows opened but it was still uncomfortable. For this reason, it was not comfortable to lie on the couch in the living room because of the thick cushions, making us sweaty. I wish we could strip those cushions off and lay on a bare wooden couch or lounge chair. That would have been more comfortable. Either that or please install AC. There were a lot of little white ants crawling all over on the kitchen countertop. That wasn’t very pleasant. We wiped them off but they wouldn’t go away.

The location was at the top but we loved everything about the condo.

Find a different car rental company to partner with. Thrifty was dirty (and the car was dirty), in a strange location and the workers were very slow. I would not rent from them again.

Beautiful artistic surroundings in our condo

We have now used Grantham/Parrish seven times and each time has been a delight. The lady who purchases our groceries for our arrival. She is wonderful. Over the last two years we have been unable to get our favorite Island radio station on the radio in our condo. KSHK 103.1 is easy to be heard on the car radio but we could not get in a single station on the radio/CD player provided. Washing machine decided to stop during the wash cycle. We called maintenance and within a very short time frame the problem was corrected.
