Beautiful Kauai views

Our family has stayed at HBR several times. This is our first time in this unit. The view is outstanding! My only suggestion would be adding a light above the dining table. As a family, we like playing cards, board games... and the lighting was poor. We moved the lamps from the sitting area towards the table to add more light. We would definitely rent again.

So perfect for our family!!

The resort was absolutely beautiful! Loved the pool and the hot tub. The rooms were very nice and clean. The kitchen amenities were great with newer appliances. The view from all three rooms were lovely. I don’t understand why some people gave this condo a bad rating. We were nothing but pleased. The staff was wonderful and accommodating. I believe the is one of the oldest resorts on the island that had a true Hawaiian feel and cultural experience. We definitely hope to go back in the future. Thank you!!!

Great location and views but condo was shabby, sterile, best thing by far was location and views. Resort seemed to be mostly a timeshare complex with closed restaurant and bar. Hard to get into the one remaining place to eat. Proximity to Hanalei bay was fantastic and grounds were well maintained. Parking long way from condo and 3 flights of stairs. Mixed review.

Aloha Claire. While we are happy you enjoyed the view, we are quite disappointed by your review.  If you had questions about the property, we would have gladly answered them before you booked.  However, we feel the photos, description and map set up expectations pretty well.  While Hanalei Bay Resort has both timeshares and wholly owned condos, why are not sure why the ownership structure would affect your stay.  We are sorry the restaurant is closed, but there are several options nearby in Princeville.

Vacation in Paradise

We had a wonderful time playing at the beach, enjoying family and celebrating a tropical Christmas. The condo was clean and stocked with plenty of supplies for our stay.

Gorgeous views! Sitting on the balcony was the highlight of this place and all balconies had views of Hanalei Bay. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. Nice kitchen, but we didn't use it for our too short of stay here. The resort has a beautiful pool and hot tub. There's also a walking path to the beach. I would stay here again.

This is a wonderful Airbnb. The views from the balcony have to be among the best on the entire island. You also have access to all of the resort amenities like the lounge and the pool (the swim-up bar and one of the restaurants were closed due to Covid, but that’s to be expected under the circumstances). My whole family would highly recommend this home. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, so it’s ideal for families with multiple kids or groups of couples/friends. Perfect location. Beautiful place.

Oh man, we had such a crazy good stay. What a gem with an incredible view! It was like waking up in a painting every morning with the Nā Pali Coast in the background, and Hanalei Bay in the foreground. Exquisite. Easily the best resort view on the islands. The resort was great... much more low-key than the Poipu side of the island. it's a good 45-min to an hour with roadwork traffic to get to the southern side of the island. And ~2 hr drive (one-way) to Hawaii's Grand Canyon, Waimea Canyon. Really not a big deal if you plan accordingly. Thank you, thank you. We're already talking about our next stay. Mahalo!

Magical views

This property has the most stunning mountain and water views. It looks like a green screen in all of the pictures, and in real life, it was hard to believe we were waking up to this view every day. Honestly, I wish we sat around more and just stared out of the balconies :-). Sounds silly, but we were very active on this trip, and I could have used a bit more down time to soak in the views even more than we were able to. The kitchen was fantastic, fully equipped with a large 14 cup coffee machine. The refrigerator was nice and big. I think there was even a double oven (which we didn't use). We had all the essentials to cook and clean up easily. Beds were pretty comfortable, rooms large and spacious. A balcony with beautiful views off each room. The master bedroom shares a balcony with the common space balcony (it is massive). The unit as a whole is not updated (the kitchen is newer) but it was a non issue. There were some cob webs and crumbs in one of the rooms, but everything else was pretty tidy. One of the shower mounts was broken, but there was a rain shower to utilize instead so it was a non-issue. This was a great place for a bigger family that still wants it's own privacy and go into their own "wing"/room at night. A few things that were a bit wonky, but ultimately not a big issue - there is no shared/common space bathroom. All of the bathrooms are tied to a room. Which is totally fine just something to keep in mind. Also, since this is 3 units together, they still have the separating doors between each unit that can accidentally get locked. This can cause an issue since there are multiple entrances (an outdoor entrance into each unit) and some of the entrances into the units lock automatically. Maintenance had to come one time to open a unit for us because of this. They said 20 minutes, took more like 1 hour and 20 minutes, but again, more time to soak in views. Overall, we love Hanalei Bay Resort in general. We've been before. It is large but still feels quiet. There is a lovely pool, hot tub, and beach access (a bit of a walk but will golf cart you down if needed). Gym is small but gets the job done and open 24/7. They have tennis courts and grills which we did not use, but would have liked to. Happy Talk restaurant on site. Staff was lovely. We wish the pool bar was open more (it closed mon-wed) but understand that with the pandemic, things just aren't the same right now and many places are understaffed. Overall - MAGICAL stay 🙂

Great space and views.

Plenty of space, good kitchen and great views from the back terrace. My only criticism would be the only restaurant on site doesn’t open until after 3:00pm so be prepared to make your own breakfast and lunch or travel.

Awesome location for family vacation

We loved our view and the spaciousness of our accommodations. That staff was friendly.

We loved the view and loved the spaciousness of our accommodations. We also enjoyed having three separate living accommodations for us and our children. We enjoyed the amenities of a home (kitchen, washer/dryer, etc.). Everything was in working order, except The air conditioner in the north bedroom stopped working the night before our departure. I had my husband notify them upon check out.

It's ability to comfortably accommodate all 10 members of our family. the view from the patios was exceptional.

Patty Ka’iakapu responded very quickly to an email I sent her. She not only emailed back immediately but followed up with a personal phone call. Excellent customer service from her all around. It felt a bit tedious compared to booking directly through Airbnb but still doable. It was a little confusing that we checked in at the Hanalei Bay Resort property but that their front desk directed us to communicate with Parrish Collection instead of them. Regardless, communication time was prompt and very much appreciated. Our balcony door was very difficult to open or close. We let Parrish know so it can be fixed for future guests. The kitchen could have used some additional items to make the experience more enjoyable for guests -- bowls, good knives and basic kitchen products (bags, aluminum foil) were in short supply or completely unavailable.

Gorgeous views, great amenities and spacious comfort

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The condo unit is large enough to comfortably accommodate 9 people. The swimming pool was a hit with the kids and the beach (albeit a short, steep walk) had some of the best snorkeling on the island (wear water shoes!). The views of Hanalei Bay and the hour long morning rainbows were nothing short of magic. The name Hanalei Bay Resort is a little deceiving though as we thought we would be much closer to the actual town of Hanalei. Please note that the entrance to this resort is indeed in Princeville and the beach access is in the easternmost part of Hanalei Bay. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place to others -- beautiful grounds, great amenities and spectacular views depending on which condo you stay in!

Condo great, pool disappointing

Condo was great with upgrades to bathrooms and kitchen. Breathtaking views and generous lanai. I don’t think there is a bad view in the entire complex. Staff were friendly and so helpful. The dresser in our room was musty and unusable because the smell transferred onto clothes but this was minor. Several of the keys we were given to access the unit did not work so we had to return to reception a couple of times. The bedrooms can be separate units or connected to the main unit, but that means the doors connecting the units are one-sided (and doorknob on one side only) making it easy to lock yourself on one side.. Additionally, the external door knobs can only be opened with a key. My 2yo shut himself himself in a bedroom and none of the keys to the external bedroom door worked -- fortunately I was able to open the external door by reaching my arm through the flimsy screen on the window next to the door and turning the knob. The resort cut us new keys after this incident. The doors bolt on the inside so it felt safe and secure while we were inside, but easy to break into if the bolt was not engaged (we didn’t have many valuables so this did not bother us, but it may be important to others). Unfortunately for us the pool was unusable because it was so cold and the bottom was rough. We’ve stayed on the north shore at other resorts during the cold/rainy season and those pools were still warm enough to swim in. The hot tub was a warm haven, but a lot of the original stone was patched with concrete that was rough and scratched up our feet if we weren’t careful. The sandy area for kids was unusable because it was so small and didn’t have enough sand to cover the rocky concrete ledge. Be sure to bring water shoes if you plan to use hot tub or pool. They have any equipment you may need to rent, however the rental shop was unpredictably closed at times. In summary, Hanalei Bay Resort is a great place for anyone focused on the many great things Kaua’i has to offer -- tennis, golf, hiking, kayaking, beaches, surfing, paddle boarding, mountain-gazing, etc. I do not recommend it for anyone who wants pool time. We were traveling with small children so this aspect, in addition to the safety concerns of locking doors, was not a good fit for our family.

Great condo!

The condo was fabulous clean updated perfect view! The only thing I would add is lanai furnishing are old and need to be replaced.. other than that we will be back again! This is our 4th visit and stayed at Hanalie Bat Resorts.Highly Recommended!

Great, but with a drawback

TL;DR: Nice unit with great view, marred by constant low frequency whirrrrrrrrrrrrr from attic vent that no one could shut off all week. THE GOOD The view is wonderful. You do see a few other buildings, but Hanalei bay is lovely and the panorama of mountains in the background is spectacular. There are lanais off of each bedroom and the main room. The unit is nicely furnished, in great shape, and has late-model appliances. Hanalei Bay resort is nice: they have a decent bar/restaurant, there is nice walk down to the beach, and they have the usual resort amenities (and the usual ‘resort fee’ and parking fees). I was pleasantly surprised to find that the resort did NOT charge an arm and a leg for renting snorkeling gear, but had prices that were I think a bit better than the rental chains — good work HBR! THE BAD The big annoyance was that there was constant background sound of a big vent or fan running, apparently in the closed off attic space. It was a low frequency vibration that I found quite annoying; I wore ear plugs at night, but they didn’t entirely block out the sound. We talked to people at the HBR front desk, who said they would address the problem. When they didn’t after the first day, we contacted the management company, “Parrish Collection Kauai,” who responded very promptly by telephone, and sent someone over (she heard it too, and agreed it was loud). However, Parrish was responsive and made all the right nosies, they weren’t actually able to do anything. After a 2-3 days of them being apologetic and saying they were talking to HBR folks and would “keep on them,” Parrish stopped touching base with us, and we gave up and did our best to enjoy our stay. OVERALL So, nice place, but I really disliked the vent noise, and don’t think that the noise, or the fact that Parrish stopped getting back to us, is acceptable given the premium prices and all the fees. Too bad. I would not rent this unit again, and I would also be wary of renting unit 4306 which is next door, and where I think the vent noise would be slightly louder.

We apologize for any confusion in communication, by all means we did not mean to stop communicating. We did continue daily with then and is has been repaired. Location was great and the view was amazing!

The property was better than I had anticipated. There were a few things in the unit that seemed as though they could have easily been corrected, such as: the closets were jammed with furniture that could have easily been removed, the shelves in the kitchen were all in need of being wiped down, there was no kettle to make tea, and although there were some beach chairs left in one of the closets, the pieces were broken and moldy. We really loved the unit though and will try to book it again.
