The majestic cliffs of the famed Na Pali Coast caught the eye of our long time friend and photographer Alan Palermo on his recent Kauai vacation. Gazing at the emerald green sea cliffs rising 4,000 feet above Hanakapiai Beach, Alan was inspired by the beauty of this rugged coastline and its deep roots in Hawaiian culture.
“I have always been drawn to the ocean where I am at peace. Kauai exceeded my expectations with the magnificence of its beaches, coast and mountains. While reflecting on the ever changing beauty of Kauai, I felt drawn to photograph its splendor to share with others.” (Alan Palermo)
During his stay at Whalers Cove near Poipu Beach, Alan took advantage of the oceanfront setting from his Kauai condo to capture the unique richness of the island. We are pleased to share a sample of Alan’s work today of the Na Pali Coast from a portfolio that includes Kauai beaches and Kauai sunsets.
“I first met Alan in Graduate School when we were in the Executive MBA program together at USC. That was back in 2000 and we have been friends ever since. Alan’s second career as a photographer is a good fit for this former engineer. His impressive art creates memorable scenes of Kauai and many other exotic places.” (JP Parrish)
What started as a hobby for Alan has grown into a new business for this Southern California resident. Alan lives close to the beach and goes there often at the end of the day. Experimenting with the light of the changing sunset has become a primary focus of his work that offers moments of beauty and reflection.
Alan has also expanded his portfolio to include landscapes and wildlife photography from his travels and backpacking expeditions. He captures those rare times seldom seen by others and the distinctive personality of wildlife in their home environment.
We invite you to see more of his work by viewing the website for Alan Palermo Photography.
