The place is really undersold by the photos and description! The view, though partial, is gorgeous and dead on from the unit. The home itself is nicely updated, and felt spacious and comfortable for my partner and our single friend. We had all the appliances and kitchen tools we needed, plus lots of beach stuff in the closet.

Before we booked this we read reviews that the beds are uncomfortable. While they’re certainly not the worst as another guest said, they certainly need replacing. The king bed has a ridge in the middle and two sunken divots on either side. It was visibly noticeable walking in the room, and VERY noticeable in bed. The pillows and bedding are comfortable, and we slept ok. The living room had two pullouts which are your standard thin, bar in the middle, couch pull out.

I also do recommend doing due diligence on restaurants. There are a few good options but better things are further away or close earlier, so plan and prepare!

The VIEW!

Poipu Kapili was a fantastic place for us to stay during our first trip to Kauai! The space was perfect traveling with a toddler, the location was close to multiple beaches as well as shops and restaurants, and the view was fantastic! We stayed in unit #32 and the outside closet was filled with everything you need for the beach - chairs, toys, umbrella. We will definitely be back!!

Beautiful place but probably the worst bed I’ve ever slept in. Horrible broken mattress that will destroy your back. We slept on the floor the last 2 nights since it was better than sleeping in the bed. We reported the problem but they just said “they were looking into the problem”, the problem is that the bed needs a new mattress. Would be 5 stars if we didn’t sleep on the floor.

Aloha Mike, we are sorry that the bed was not to your liking.  We do find that things like mattress comfort can be very subjective.  Although you found it uncomfortable, we have others that have said the opposite.  I see that you asked for the mattress to be “fixed” which we assume means replaced.  Given the units are individually owned, we cannot replace it based on one guests comments.  However, we will pass your concerns on to the owner who is arriving soon.

Great stay. Location is perfect. 2-3 minute car ride or 10 min walk to lots of restaurants and shops. Great family beach within walking distance. A couple of the reviews mentioned the AC, and, while yes, it can get a little warm in the living areas, we found the room portable unit and fans located throughout the home did the job. We would stay again, for sure.

Great condo and location!

This was a great condo in a great location! My only regret is the more great reviews on it will make it harder to book next time! I’ve already looked at other dates there and it is mostly occupied. It is only a few minutes walk to a great beach. The condo has towels and beach chairs to use which is a huge bonus. Even though there were only two of us, it was nice to have that second bathroom. Kitchen was spacious and well stocked with items needed for making breakfast. And I especially loved that it had an ice maker and was stocked with ice! Having a washer and dryer was also a nice bonus to do laundry before heading home. The only few downsides I could think of was that the AC portable unit in the bedroom was quite loud so we’d turn it on for a bit to cool the room down, then turn it off and slept with the windows open. It did have a nice cross breeze. The other thing we wished that the balcony chairs and table were a bit higher, maybe barstool height, so you could sit out there and enjoy the beautiful view. With the standard size chairs and table, when you sat down, you mostly got a view of the railing. A few minor things that could be improved but overall fabulous rental!

This was a wonderful and spacious home. I would definitely stay again. The only downside is that on the hottest days, the A/C has trouble keeping the living room and kitchen cool.

Poipu Kapili is a well-maintained condo complex of 60 units. #32 is set back with a straight view to the ocean (the picture is accurate). The owner and Parrish have this unit nicely appointed in the kitchen (newer cookware, countertops, appliances), beach gear (chairs, cooler), and in-unit washer and dryer. For a 1 bedroom unit, it is very spacious. We have stayed at other condos in Poipu and would definitely return to Poipu Kapili. It is quiet, with a nice pool to relax in after a big day at the local beaches snorkeling or up at Koke’e State Park. Also, a 10 minute walk to the Shops at Kukui’ula along Ho’onani Road. The only (minor) downside is no sandy beach directly in front of the unit, if that is important to a renter. Beaches are accessible by walking or driving.

Nice location and house! But, the kitchen pantry was empty. Communication was fine, and everything else was ok!

Other than a minor glitch during check in, the place was in a perfect location for us with great views. The property was well kept and response times from management were fantastic. Would highly recommend! Regarding check in, if you arrive after 5PM you will need to send copies of your Safe Travels Quarantine Exemption to the after hours emergency line, not to the number or email provided by the property in their communications.

We had a great stay at this unit . The views are fabulous and the place is well stocked with everything you need , including beach chairs with little ice coolers, storage zipped pocket and cup holders. We loved that we were able to walk to all the restaurants we had made reservations at and walking distance to great shopping . We were able to walk and run long the beach, since it had long sidewalks and space for you to run next to the ocean. The Sheraton is next door so we rented cabanas on the beach there. You get all the shade , rain and wind blocking needed and if you put the flag up they will take your food and beverage order. We went at 1:00 and after 1:00 it is $50 until 5:00. This fits two people. . We did read the complaint about the bedroom being hot in the evening but we turned on single air condition unit early in the day and shut the door. Then used ceiling fan at night. The best part about staying here is the sunsets . We were able to walk across the street from condo to the short stone wall and watch the sunsets every night with a drink of choice in hand . This is where even the locals show up at sunset . We would love to stay here again !

This place is great! The location is perfect. Beautiful view! This condo had everything we needed. Lovers the pool. I especially appreciated the kitchen amenities. Walking distance to the beach, many restaurants, and shops. Beware - the advertised 2 beds includes one pull-out couch. A pull-out couch is not equivalent to a bed. Also the AC in the bedroom is a little better than worthless. It is as loud as a jet engine.

We LOVED this condo so much! The view, the light and sounds of the waves while in the living room, the cleanliness, the balcony, the two bathrooms, the cross breeze from both sides, the full kitchen, the laundry, the AC in the bedroom (on those extra humid days), the location, all the beaches nearby, the accessibility to a great sunset view. Great view and very comfortable. Very relaxing.

We love the small number of units at Poipu Kapili. We love the size of each unit. We love the views particularly from second floor units. We have visited three times and are already planning our next stay(s). Unit 32 was terrific. Second bathroom could be upgraded or renovated with ample room for a large walk in shower. Other than vulgar and obnoxious guest next to us for a few nights, which we reported, our stay was great.

DREAMY location. Friendly and helpful staff. Immaculate facility.

We stayed in #32 for seven nights and loved every minute of our vacation. In fact, Poipu Kapili is now our favorite place to stay on Kauai. (Note: we stayed at the Grand Hyatt two years prior (with a partial ocean view) and believe that this property is superior to the resort. Upon arrival, the spacious condo (#32) felt like home, from the large living room to the sparkly-clean bathrooms, equipped kitchen, and comfy master bedroom. The grounds at Poipu Kapili are immaculately groomed on a daily basis, so having a second-story view of the tropical plants and trees (right outside the bedroom window) was a nice touch. We enjoyed the Hawaiian plantation-style sliders, which provided complete privacy and allowed for good airflow. However, even these features don’t measure up to the view off of the balcony. WOW! We experienced the “pinch me, I must be dreaming” moment on day one. Fortunately, our gratitude and awe never left. Condo #32 has an unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean. My wife and I live near the beach in Southern California, but this view was unlike anything we have seen, so we cooked and ate each meal on the balcony (ahi tacos for days…). Lastly, the staff made us feel welcomed and comfortable from arrival to departure. We even stopped by the front office multiple times to ask for travel advice and purchase gourmet Kauai coffee. Additionally, the property staff greeted us every morning and asked if we had fun plans for the day ahead. Their local knowledge led us to a day-long adventure that we will never forget. Best View on the Island

My husband and I had a relaxing and incredible week-long stay at Poipu Kapili #32. This was our first time staying in a rental condo as opposed to a hotel on Kaua’i– and I can confidently say that this experience has far exceeded any hotel experience we’ve ever had on Kauai (including the Grand Hyatt). First off, the unobstructed ocean view from the balcony is incredible. We live a few blocks away from the ocean in Southern California, and the view from unit #32 absolutely blew us away. While most of the units have beautiful ocean views, the location and proximity of this unit make it one of the top 5 oceanfront views on the property. Next, this unit is stocked with everything you need for a vacation in paradise – beach chairs/umbrellas, snorkeling gear, & a cooler (for those day trips across the island). After a long day of adventuring, we would stop by one of the local farmers market to pick up fresh fish and local produce to cook our dinners – while dining alfresco on the patio and watching the sunset, of course! The property even has a little herb garden prepare with your meals. You can tell the owners have put a lot of thought about all the little details that go into making a vacation rental feel like a home. From fresh local coffee & tea to everyday items you would use at home, no detail is overlooked. Additionally, it was a surprise to discover that the unit came with a washer & dryer. Instead of packing a suitcase full of dirty laundry – we did a load before we left and unpacked only clean clothes! Lastly, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. From recommendations on the best trail to hike on Waimea Canyon to the best local coffee shops, they provided us with a ton of local knowledge and resources so that we could make the most of our time on the island. Overall, we felt right at home during our stay & are looking forward to booking this property again next year. Many mahalos!

Poipu Kapili #32

We’ve been travelling to Poipu, Kauai for 17 years now. We’ve stayed at Nihi Kai Villas and also Waiohai Beach club where we owned a timeshare. We stayed for 10 days in Poipu Kapili #32 in May. Overall we liked the resort. It seemed like a good value for the money. It is a small, quiet resort. The grounds were beautiful and meticulously maintained. The pool was nice. We enjoyed the ocean view from our unit. The unit also had a washer and dryer, which was nice. The herb garden is nice. We had a couple minor issues which were promptly resolved by ParrishKauai onsite management. We didn’t have a problem with only bedroom A/C, as it wasn’t that hot in May when we stayed there. We wanted to be within walking distance of the beach that fronts the Sheraton Hotel. It probably was about a 10 minute walk, which wasn’t bad, except when we were loaded down with beach chairs, towels, etc., it was a bit much, so we ended up driving. We enjoyed walking along the coast either way from the resort each morning. The resort is within a 10 minute walk to Kukui’ula Shopping Center with several restaurants. There are only two gas bbq’s on the property, neither of which didn’t work the first night. All things considered, we’d probably stay at Poipu Kapili again, (and in the same unit since it is one of a few that also has a washer and dryer); only IF we got the same deal we did this time, which was discounted from the regular May rate.

Average condo, booking and front desk not friendly

The condo complex itself is situated a short walk from the Sheraton hotel and their beach, that was a nice discovery. The unit was very hot upon arrival and the unit in the bedroom cooled the bedroom OK but the rest of the unit was warm and muggy. NO cross ventilation or breezes. When we arrived at 3:30 or 3:40 pm from a full day ( 5 am) of traveling we were anxious to check in and relax. The check in time is listed at 4pm. When we approached the lady and the front desk she said the room is “not ready”, I will call you when it is ready, and sent us away. We walked over to the Sheraton to have something light to eat and we got a call at 3:55. I guess they needed that extra 15 min to ‘finish’ the room, however when we walked in, it was warm and stuffy. Clearly, no one had been in there “getting it ready”. They give you 4 towels in each bathroom to use. and 2 beach towels for a condo that accommodates 4. Luckily we were just 3. The unit needs upgrading. There was mold in on of the bathroom shower stalls.and the carpet was in need of replacing. The slider door gets stuck. I think there are better options on Poipu.

It indeed was a back to back reservation so I guarantee you the crew needed the extra time, especially given it was high season. We apologizing shorting you on the beach towels. That was our oversight. We will be certain to address any mold in the shower and the slider. We will also share your comments about the carpet with the owner, but I do know it is cleaned regularly. For your next visit, may I recommend you focus on a Premier or Premier Plus rated property. These are newer and upgraded. Aloha.

Wonderful View and Location

First I’ll start with what we enjoyed about this property. -- The view is amazing; the lanai looks directly over the pool/courtyard and to the water. You can hear the waves crashing from the lanai and family room. Very relaxing. -- It’s located very close to the Sheraton where there is a beautiful beach, and is in walking distance to shopping and restaurants. -- Beautiful Kauai sunsets can be viewed nightly on the ocean wall directly across from the condo complex. Be sure to bring your cocktail. -- Poipu is a great location which has more sun when rest of the island has rain -- The family room is very spacious and bigger than normal 1 bedroom condos. -- The bed is very comfortable, and we slept really well. -- The office staff was very helpful and responsive to our requests whether they were requests for more washclothes or fixing something. Lastly the things that we found lacking. -- The internet/wi-fi was very slow, and I couldn’t use my iPad with wi-fi in the bedroom, as it wouldn’t reach. -- Previous reviews mentioned road noise. There is some but it’s very minimal. Far worse are the roosters, which are everywhere on the island, and start crowing at 3:30am. The kitchen needs some updating. Cabinets are original and could use a facelift. If I could make a suggestion to the owner -- a garlic press and salad spinner would be very useful additions to the kitchen. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place.

Sorry about the roosters and road noise…both out of our control. We may suggest a unit that is more tucked inside the property next time. That should help on the noise. We will pass on your comments on the cabinets, etc. to the owner. We can also suggest you pick a Premier or Premier Plus unit next time as they are more updated and/or brand new. Honeymoon in Paradise

Honeymooners in Paradise

My husband and I had a fantastic experience at Poipu, Ubit 32. Such a gorgeous unit with wonderful amenities allowing us to feel like we were in a home with gorgeous beach front views. The owner takes great care of the unit, as well as provides chairs, a cooler, and little extras making island life quite convenient. We enjoyed eating on the lanai with the ocean just steps away. Watching the turtles from Poipu Kapili

Once again we have returned to #32 at Poipu Kapili for our annual visit to Kauai and once again, we had a fabulous stay. #32 has all of the amenities that anyone could want in a condo--washer/dryer; in room air conditioner; large flat screen TV and stereo system (on which we watched baseball playoffs as well as our shows that we had recorded from home and played back from our computer); very comfortable queen size bed and flat screen TV in the bedroom; 2 full bathrooms--one for me and one for my husband; great deck to watch the ocean from--as well, the view is just as great from the living room; nice lawn to watch every sunset from. And near by there are many fine dining restaurants that we enjoyed every night. For a very comfortable one bedroom condo stay in “paradise”, #32 is everything that you could ever ask for.

Poipu Kapili #32 is the BEST!

My wife and I have been coming to Poipu for many years, and in our opinion #32 at Poipu Kapili is the best one bedroom unit in the facility. It has a great unobstructed view of the ocean from the living room and the balcony, a W/D in the unit (which is unusual), beautiful furnishings and pictures throughout, a nice kitchen with a new fridge, a great entertainment unit in the living room (big flat screen TV and a very good sound system), two bathrooms and a good bed + TV in the bedroom. And it’s close to many excellent restaurants in the Poipu/Koloa area. So hopefully we’ll be coming back to Poipu for many years and #32 will still be available, as it is the “best”.

#32 Poipu Kapili has a great view

I loved being able to stand at the kitchen sink and look out the sliding glass doors and see the ocean and the pool. The view was incredible. The unit has fairly new carpet and was clean with the exception of the ants. We had to make sure nothing was left out to attract them. We put our cookies and bread in the microwave, to store away from the ants. The unit is very comfortable. We had a hard time figuring out the TV cable system as there are 4 remote controls. But this is a very minor inconvenience. The bed was comfortable. I saw there was an individual air conditioning unit in the bedroom but we did not need to use it as the weather was perfect. There is a washer and dryer in the unit. The place was very quiet. It is also a short walk to the Sheraton beach. No need to get into the car and drive to the beach.

#32 Piopu Kapili is a fabulous place to vacation!

When we visit Hawaii our favorite place is Poipu, and for us, the best place to stay is #32 in Poipu Kapili. While staying in #32, we enjoy the great ocean view right out the living room window or from the deck where we often have breakfast and lunch. This condo is loaded with amenities which include a washer and dryer (most units do not have this luxury), a nice kitchen with new fridge, a very comfortable living room with great TV and sound system and of course, nice artwork adorning all walls and two bathrooms, one for my wife and one for me. Poipu Kapili is a very peaceful, well maintained, quiet place to stay and #32 is the perfect one bedroom for us. We highly recommend #32 to anyone looking for a bit of paradise while on vacation.
