The Best Waimea Canyon Hikes
Waimea Canyon Lookout: Let us start with a warm-up; Waimea Canyon Lookout is a paved, 0.1-mile loop trail located in Waimea Canyon State Park that is accommodating for hikers of all skill levels. Despite its short length, Waimea Canyon Lookout is undoubtedly worth a visit. On your hike, you will take in magnificent views of Waimea Canyon from different angles.
Iliau Nature Loop Trail: At just 0.4 miles long, Iliau Nature Loop Trail is another short and sweet trail in Waimea Canyon State Park. On this loop, you will encounter beautiful wildflowers and, of course, magnificent canyon views. Keep an eye out for birds; Iliau Nature Loop Trail is a popular spot for birding on the island.
Waimea Canyon River Trail: Hike from Kokee Road into Waimea Canyon, ultimately reaching the Waimea River, which formed the canyon. This hike is not for the faint of heart; this 10.4 mile out and back trail features a steep incline and hot conditions. The Waimea Canyon River Trail is a challenging hike even for experienced hikers, but those who have made the trek rave about the breathtaking views.
