On the western end of Poipu Resort is Lawai Beach. This small beach located next to the infamous Beach House restaurant offers arguably some of the best snorkeling on Kauai. High tide can hide much of the sand, but there is large grassy area with shady palm trees that provides the perfect base for your snorkeling adventure.
If you are lucky you may see a Hawaiian Monk seal resting on the beach…please be sure to only observe and do not disturb the seals!!
Perfect for…snorkeling, sunbathing and sunsets. Expert surfers can venture out to one of best surf spots in Poipu.
Hazards…usually calm, but strong currents can exist. No lifeguard on duty.
Driving directions to Lawai Beach…from Koloa town, head south on Poipu Road. Continue along on Poipu Road (HI-520) until you merge into the “Welcome to Poipu Beach” round-about. Continue around the round-about and follow the sign “Spouting Horn” (second exit) and continue along Lawai Road for approximately two miles. The Beach House restaurant will be on your left and the Lawai Beach Resort will be on your right. Plenty of street parking is available as well as a small free all day parking lot.
Nearby Parrish Kauai vacation rentals are the Sunset Makai Hale, Hale Luana and The Beach House as well as Whalers Cove and Lawai Beach Resort condos.
