Join in any or all of this annual 9 day celebration of Kauai’s diverse plantation heritage and have the time of your life creating memories – local style.
My favorite event is the opening Sunset Ho’olaulea (July 17, 2010); an ocean front block party with continuous entertainment on multiple stages, a beer garden and a variety of food delicacies from popular local restaurants. Bring a beach chair and take in the sunset and or your dancing shoes and mix and mingle with visitors and residents alike. The festival has something for everyone – guided hikes, ethnic cooking demonstrations and tasting, canoe paddling, educational presentations, family movies, sporting events and more. Another signature event is the home grown parade with horseback and walking units, decorated vehicles and floral floats competing to be awarded the best in each category.
The finale is the park celebration with a full line-up of local stars from comedy to renowned recording artists, unique products at the island’s largest craft fair, silent auction and plenty of fun for the kids.
