A great place to take toddlers and babies is Keiki Cove just down the road from Lawai Beach. A small strip of white sand, this little cove and beach are rarely used, have ample parking across the street, and have lava rock steps for easy access. Its shallow water and typically small lapping waves are perfect for the little one to learn about the ocean. Older kids will find all the tide pools fascinating. Adults…please be sure to always check the water before allowing kids to play.
Perfect for…wading, splashing, tide pooling, sunbathing and sunsets.
Hazards…usually calm, but waves and strong currents can exist during the summer months. No lifeguard on duty.
Driving directions to Keiki Cove…from Koloa town, head south on Poipu Road. Continue along on Poipu Road (HI-520) until you merge into the “Welcome to Poipu Beach” round-about. Continue around the round-about and follow the sign “Spouting Horn” (second exit) and continue along Lawai Road for approximately two and a quarter miles. Pass the The Beach House restaurant and Lawai Beach Resort and look for the lava rock wall after the second house after Lawai beach. Plenty of free parking is available in the small lot on the right.
Nearby Parrish Kauai vacation rentals are the Sunset Makai Hale and The Donohugh Home as well as Whalers Cove and Lawai Beach Resort condos.
Don’t forget your sunscreen!!
