Koloa Town is the site of the first sugar plantation in the State of Hawaii. Located at the foot of the famous Tunnel of Trees on the way to Poipu, Koloa is home to over 100 businesses, all located within a colorful 15 minute walk of each other. Enjoy dining and shopping in the authentically restored buildings, many of which feature historical information on each building. Be sure to visit the Koloa History Center right in the middle of town. The following services can all be found in this beautiful, quaint island town:

Banks: There is one full service bank, First Hawaiian Bank. Open Monday to Thursday 8:30-4:00 p.m. Fridays 8:30- 6:00 p.m. Foreign currency exchange, ATM machine and credit card cash advance are available.

Koloa Post Office: Open Monday to Friday 8:30-4:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00-11:00 a.m.

Cleaners: Full service dry cleaning and laundry available six days a week at Up-to-Date Cleaners.

Electronic Communication: GST Hawaii Online is an internet service provider offering a wide range of services. For visitors to Hawaii, GST offers a special dial-up rate.

Churches: You'll find about 8 churches of various denominations in the Koloa area.

Doctors and Pharmacy: Kauai Medical Clinic is located in Old Koloa Town on Koloa Road. There is one pharmacy across the street from the clinic, South Shore Pharmacy.

Beauty Shops: Three shops offer hair styling and beauty supplies.

Farmers Market: Farmers Market: Kauai farmers gather for an open market in different communities throughout the week. On Mondays at noon it is in Koloa in the parking lot of the Koloa Ball Park on the way to the Tunnel of Trees.

Grocery Stores: You'll find two full service grocery stores in Koloa, IGA/Big Save Market and Sueoka's.

Restaurants and Shops: Old Koloa Town is filled with a number of small specialty shops and restaurants. You'll enjoy taking a stroll down the town's quaint, picturesque street looking for Hawaiian treasures, starting with T-shirts at Crazy Shirts to hand-made Hawaiian soaps and candles at Island Soap and Candle Works. Even though the town is small, you'll find a variety of places to eat from the quiet setting by a tropical pond at TomKats to Mexican, Italian, local restaurants and even a New York style deli at Da'li Deli. Don't forget to stop into the KoloaFish Market for the freshest in island fish, just great for grilling.

Art Galleries: You'll find 2 art galleries in the heart of Koloa, Kahn Galleries and Atlantis Gallery & Frames.

Ice Cream: You just can't beat Lappert's Ice Cream for true island decadence!

Florist: The Blue Orchid and boutique shop is located in heart of Koloa Town. Handmade jewelry along with island flowers and leis can be found here.

Video Rental: After a day in the sun, relax, and rent a movie; a VCR comes in every condominium. You'll find a great collection at Hot Flix Video Rentals.

Three miles south of Koloa, you'll arrive in the Poipu Beach area. Situated on the sunny, south shore of Kauai, Poipu Beach is one of the most enchanting areas in Hawaii. Popular due to its exceptional climate and wonderful beaches, you'll also find an array of resort accommodations, hotels, fabulous restaurants, activity rentals, and opportunities for every kind of island adventure possible. Restaurants: The hardest part about dining in Poipu is choosing where to go. There are at least 24 restaurants! Recently emerging as the "restaurant row" of Kauai, Poipu offers a wide selection of dining choices. Dining experiences extend from super gourmet to ultra casual; from western pacific cuisine to northern Italian; from fresh seafood, to grilled meats and delicious pastas.

Doctors, Pharmacy and Churches: None in Poipu but they all can be found in Koloa, just 3 miles to the north.

Shopping Center: The Poipu Shopping Village is home to 30 or more businesses ranging from french boutiques, sandal shops, t-shirt stores, tropical gift shops, wonderful island fashions in a number of shops, and of course, all of those incredible restaurants.

Galleries: At the Poipu Shopping Village there are 2 first-rate art galleries; Wyland Galleries Hawaii, and Coco's Fine Arts.

Island-made Gifts: A variety of retail clothing, art, gifts and jewelry reflecting tropical styles are plentiful, as well as many crafts and products made right here on Kauai can be found at Poipu Shopping Village as well as the unique specialty shops located at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Sheraton Kauai.

Grocery stores: For a variety of sundries from suntan lotion to island souvenirs, there's Whalers General Store in Poipu Shopping Village with a local grocery store, Kukuiula, right down the street for your shopping convenience.
