- Effective 9/1/99 the state imposed a rental vehicle surcharge of $3.00 per day. A General Excise tax of 4.166% is assessed as an additional charge. An airport concession recovery fee applies to all rentals. On Kauai the rate is 8.10%.

- Foreign travelers must have a valid drivers license from country of origin. International Drivers license may accompany a valid drivers license and is
not required.

- Rates may vary for Maui, Molokai, Lanai and Oahu.
