One of the most popular Kauai beaches on the South Shore fronts the Kiahuna Plantation Resort and is walking distance to Waikomo Steam Villas. It is also close to Kauai vacation rental homes like Nani Kai Villa and Hale Nani. Locals call it Kiahuna Beach and visitors know it as Sheraton. Whatever the name, no Kauai vacation is complete without a visit to this wonderful white sand beach.
Kiahuna Beach is also a beautiful place to settle in with a Mai Tai or cold beer and watch the Kauai sunset. Mostly protected, swimming is safe year round and the summer months provide excellent waves for beginner surfers. Those with experience can venture out farther to catch some bigger waves.
Kauai Beach Tips.
Kiahuna is perfect for Kauai snorkeling especially on the eastern end at the Sheraton. Other Kauai activities to enjoy include swimming, surfing, boogie boarding, skimboarding, paddling or just a day in the sun. Although there is a lifeguard on duty at nearby Poipu Beach, this cove is not monitored so be careful. Larger surf can break and strong currents can carry swimmers and surfers onto the sharp coral and slippery rocks.
Driving Directions to Kiahuna Beach.
From Koloa town, head south on Poipu Road. Continue along on Poipu Road (HI-520) until you merge into the “Welcome to Poipu Beach” round-about. Continue around the round-about and follow the sign “Poipu Beach” (third exit) and continue for approximately one mile. Turn right on Kapili Road (at Sheraton Kauai sign) and go to the end of the road and turn left on Hoonani Road. Take Hoonani to the end where there is parking along the road as well as a public parking lot on the left, back just a bit. The beach will be on your right. Public facilities are available.
Don’t forget your sunscreen!!
