Locals call it Kiahuna Beach…visitors often call it Sheraton Beach…others call it Poipu Beach. Whatever the name, you’ll find this postcard beach perfect for your vacation many days during your stay. Whether it is snorkeling, swimming, surfing, boogie boarding, skimboarding, paddling or just a day in the sun, with its easy access, no trip to Kauai is set without a visit to this wonderful white sand beach.
Fronting Kiahuna Plantation and Sheraton Kauai, this beach is also a beautiful place to settle in with a Mai Tai or cold beer and watch the sunset. Mostly protected, swimming is safe year round and the summer months provide excellent waves for beginner surfers. Expert surfers can venture out farther to catch some bigger waves.
Perfect for…swimming, sun bathing and sunsets, boogie boarding, body surfing, skimboarding, paddling, family picnics and BBQs.
Hazards…although there is a lifeguard on duty at nearby Poipu Beach Park, this cove is not monitored so be careful. Larger surf can break and strong currents can carry swimmers and surfers onto the sharp coral and slippery rocks.
Adjacent to Brennecke Beach is Poipu Beach Park.
Driving directions to Kiahuna-Sheraton Beach…from Koloa town, head south on Poipu Road. Continue along on Poipu Road (HI-520) until you merge into the “Welcome to Poipu Beach” round-about. Continue around the round-about and follow the sign “Poipu Beach” (third exit) and continue for approximately one mile. Turn right on Kapili Road (at Sheraton Kauai sign) and go to the end of the road and turn left on Hoonani Road. Take Hoonani to the end where there is parking along the road as well as a public parking lot on the left, back just a bit. The beach will be on your right. Public facilities available.
