Kauai Mayor Signs New TVR Bill Into Law

by JP on August 17, 2010

mayor-bernard-p-carvalho-jrKauai’s Mayor on Monday signed into law Bill No. 2364 which updates and amends previous Transient Vacation Rental (TVR) Ordinances 864 and 876 relating to single-family vacation rentals outside the boundaries of Visitor Destination Areas, or VDAs.  See the full story in the Garden Island newspaper.

What were known as “illegal” vacation rentals can now apply for a non-conforming use permit which will be issues if certain criteria are met, including proof of continuing operation as a rental, payment of taxes, etc.
