A two mile crescent-shaped white sand beach, Hanalei Bay is one of Kauai’s most spectacular beaches. Black Pot, Hanalei Pavilion and Wai’oli are the three beach parks within the bay. Hanalei is easily the largest bay on the Garden Isle of Kauai, set between two large rivers – Hanalei River to the east and Wai’oli River to the west. The largest of the two rivers, the Hanalei River, also serves as a popular venue for recreational paddling, kayaking and fishing.
The summer season generally provides flat water for easy access swimming, sailing, paddling, while the winter season brings larger swells with high surf for those surf enthusiasts. For ocean safety, there are several lifeguard stations posted around the bay and it is always a smart idea to check with the local lifeguard on duty as to the current conditions of the day.
