Celebrate the plantation heritage of Kauai’s south shore communities of Koloa and Poipu during this nine day family festival, from July 18th through July 25th. With over 20 events and activities, the festival brings visitors and residents together to learn about and celebrate Koloa’s multi-cultural history. Experience a wide range of local foods, culture and events; explore the area’s unique ecology and archaeology, and enjoy the warm hospitality of Poipu Resorts’ parks, beaches, golf courses, and other venues. Please visit www.koloaplantationdays.com for more information and a schedule of events.
Capping the event, on Saturday, July 25th is the signature Parade and Park celebration. “From Sugar to Statehood” is the theme of this years’ colorful Koloa Plantation Days parade, commemorating the year 1959 when Hawaii entered into Statehood. Floral floats, horseback and walking units, musicians, vintage cars and other decorated vehicles will meander through Koloa town in this wonderful hometown parade.
After the parade, walk to the nearby Knudsen Park for an all-day celebration with a delicious variety of ethnic foods, children’s rides and activities, and all day entertainment, Hawaiian musical talents, a silent auction, and Kauai’s largest craft fair of Hawaii-made products.
